DataStream Malta Web Awards 2001

Datastream recently relayed the first live on-line press conference in Malta, which served as a testimony to the fact that the Internet has changed the way we interact on both personal and business levels. Maltese and Maltese-created web sites boast the latest in technological and creative innovation on a global scale, and it is due to this that the creators behind these web sites must be acknowledged.

More than 400 participants are competing in 13 different categories. Each website will be judged on the following criteria: Content, Structure, Navigation and Ease-of-Use, Visual Design, Functionality and Use of Technology, Interactivity, Broadband Suitability and the Overall Browsing Experience. Maltamag, Network Publications’ on-line news magazine has been nominated.

A panel of judges has been carefully selected covering a broad selection of experts in related fields. The general public will also be invited to participate in this selection through a public vote. Details of which will be given at a later date. The outcome of the public voting will carry weighting in the final decision.

The winners of the DataStream Web Awards 2001 will be announced on Friday 30 November 2001 at a ceremony held at Hilton Malta. This high profile event will be televised on PBS the following day, hosted by Stephanie Spiteri together with the participation of Martin Sapiano and live entertainment. Three nominees from each category will be invited to attend this reception. Each winner will be presented with an original sculpture designed by renowned local artist, Sina Farrugia.
