Cisco Systems to appoint Melita Cable official regional demo site

As part of the recent agreement to appoint Melita Cable Data Services as a member of the Cisco Powered Network, Cisco Systems has selected Melita Cable Data Services as their official demonstration site for Cisco MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) for the region.

The new Cisco MPLS VPNs technology is currently being used by Melita Cable Data Services to offer wide area network data services in Malta and Gozo via their EuroDOCSIS cable modem infrastructure.

Cisco MPLS VPNs provide Melita Cable Data Services with the capability to deploy and administer scalable Layer 3 VPN backbone services to customers resulting in secure communication links between local businesses.

MPLS is rapidly emerging as a core technology for next-generation networks providing flexible, connectivity, scalability, privacy and quality of service superior to other comparable technologies available.

This appointment strengthens Melita Cable Data Services’ position as a leader in telecommunication services in Malta ensuring that customers receive the benefits of the latest technology backed up by the highest service levels expected from the business community.

According to Cisco, Melita Cable Data Services now joins the top one per cent of service providers worldwide whose network is certified as Cisco Powered Network.
