Vodafone Malta launches MMS

In the latest salvo in the mobile telephony battle to deliver added service and value to the crucial market base, which is quickly approaching a saturation point, Vodafone Malta recently launched its Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), enabling its customers to send and receive colour pictures, sound and text between MMS-enabled mobile phones.

The service is being made available to all Vodafone contract and etalk customers and is being provided free of charge as a special introductory offer.

Picture messages add a whole new dimension to mobile communication. The Vodafone MMS service allows mobile users to send messages with pictures, sound and text to family and friends, whatever the occasion or mood, making mobile communication easy and entertaining. MMS may be used to show acquaintances about what's happening at a party, during a holiday, or even at work.

"Pictures are as important as speech and text for communication. MMS will open up entirely new opportunities for sharing moments and moods with others," said Joseph C. Grioli, Managing Director of Vodafone Malta. "Vodafone is proud to be the local mobile company to launch the real MMS in Malta. This state of the art communication service is as easy to use as sending or receiving SMS, yet it is even more fun. We are always aiming to provide customers with the latest innovative technology and we are certain that MMS will be a popular means of communication amongst local mobile users."

Vodafone’s MMS service enables customers to send colour images, audio files and text internationally to any email address in the world. Thus anyone who does not own an MMS-enabled phone can still view the messages, all they need is an email address.

Through Vodafone’s MMS, customers will be able to send and receive MMS from any other make of MMS phone and to MMS-enabled phones of other local mobile networks.

Vodafone is also offering the possibility to send images through Vodafone’s web site www.vodafone.com.mt. This service is similar to the free SMS service available to customers registered to the My Vodafone section on the website. All Vodafone customers will be able to upload any images saved on their computer and send them to any Vodafone Malta MMS customer. As a special introductory offer Vodafone customers will be able to send three free MMS messages daily from My Vodafone. Subscription to My Vodafone is also free of charge.
