MTA calls for quick end to works in tourism areas

The Malta Tourism Authority yesterday "noted with dismay" the slow pace of progress in connection with works being undertaken in tourism zones, including Paceville.
In a statement released yesterday, the MTA assured the tourism and leisure community, residents and visitors to these areas that it is doing its utmost, within its remit, to sensitise those responsible to ensure the urgent completion of works-in-progress.
The Malta Tourism Authority also took the opportunity to commend government efforts to embellish the Islands’ main thoroughfares, adding that it had received many positive comments on the improvements, both from holidaymakers as well as visiting tourism operators.
However, the Authority also called on all those with direct responsibility for the conclusion of these works and the general embellishment of these areas, as well as the local community, to take up the challenge and co-own the efforts being undertaken to ensure that these areas provide an avenue for a quality experience of recreation and relaxation.
Such support, it adds, is necessary so the efforts of the MTA to promote a quality Malta product and to reposition the Islands on the international market can be effectively delivered.
