Inflation rises for first time in 20 months

Malta’s rate of inflation in November rose slightly to 1.13 from October’s 1.05 per cent. Last month’s increase in inflation was the first the country witnessed since March of last year.
In related news, Malta’s Retail Prices Index declined minimally by 0.16 per cent to 101.75 from 101.91 in the previous month.
The Foods items index decreased by 0.95 per cent in October as a result of average price decreases in respect of fresh and preserved fish, potatoes, vegetables and served meals.
The highest climber was the Clothing and Footwear index, which went up by 3.70 per cent. Average price increases were recorded in Men's and in Women's outer clothing, Boy's and girl's outer clothing and Women's Footwear.
