BOV named Heritage Malta’s first corporate patron

Heritage Malta has launched a Corporate Patrons Programme with a view to generating material and financial support for the enhancement of the museums and sites under its care which form the core elements of Malta’s national heritage and collective identity. Since its inception in 2002, Heritage Malta has been receiving encouraging support from various sources, both local and international, and notably from Bank of Valletta that is a joint partner with Heritage Malta for the development of the Tarxien Temples Project.
Bank of Valletta was named as the fist Corporate Patron of Heritage Malta.
Speaking during the launch of the Corporate Patrons Programme, Tonio Depasquale, Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Valletta comments, “BOV is honoured to be named the first Corporate Patron of Heritage Malta. BOV is a financial services provider that forms an integral part of Maltese socio-economic and cultural life. Being a Maltese Community Bank, BOV has always given much importance to supporting numerous heritage, cultural, and artistic initiatives.”
Over the past years, BOV has worked closely with Heritage Malta and other non-governmental organisations in restoring and preserving a number of important historical sites. The prime example is BOV’s collaboration with Heritage Malta in supporting the restoration of the Tarxien Temples - a World Heritage site.
“Bank of Valletta has committed Lm190,000 over a period of 10 years towards the BOV Tarxien Temples Project. Thanks to the financing that will be provided by Bank of Valletta, it is expected that, over the forthcoming years, extensive works will be undertaken at this unique heritage site, which should result in a completely different and enhanced visitor experience,” said Mr Depasquale. He added that as a bank that is close to the communities in which it operates, BOV is keen to play an active role by supporting initiatives which add value to Malta’s cultural and social life
Mr Depasquale wished Heritage Malta the very best in managing Malta’s heritage sites entrusted to it. “We at Bank of Valletta look forward to working further with Heritage Malta on new projects and initiatives. I would also like to encourage more Maltese leading business institutions in supporting Heritage Malta in its endeavour to safeguard and further promote Malta’s cultural heritage”, concluded Mr Depasquale.
