MEPA caseload drops

For the second month running the Malta Environment and Planning Authority received a record number of new applications, which the authority believes was linked to the introduction of new policy guidelines issued in April that relaxed procedures on various development permits.
MEPA received 724 new applications and determined 842. The pending caseload at the end of May stood at 4,121 applications.
During May MEPA processed 89 notifications of development, which do not require a formal application. During the same month 112 stop and enforcement notices were issued, 80 in Malta and 32 in Gozo.
