Powerware receives Frost & Sullivan award for market share

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation (NYSE:ETN) announced that its Powerware products and services have been chosen by Frost & Sullivan for the 2004 Customer Development Strategy Leadership award. The award for Eaton’s electrical business is due to its exceptional position in the North American healthcare uninterruptible power supply (UPS) market.
The Frost & Sullivan award is presented each year to the company that has demonstrated excellence in customer development within the industry.
This year’s award recognizes Eaton for its proven ability to perceive customer demands in the healthcare UPS market, and to develop products to meet these needs while demonstrating substantial market growth. Eaton was also noted for its “best-in-class” customer care in support of Powerware products as well as its strategic alliances with leading organizations in the healthcare market such as Amerinet, Premier, Siemens Medical and General Electric Healthcare, among others.
“The immense success of Eaton’s Powerware products in the healthcare market is attributed to an extremely customer-focused product line, as well as the organization’s differentiated market and distribution strategy,” explained Farah Saeed, analyst at Frost & Sullivan. “This award reinforces Eaton’s dedication and success in building the Powerware brand within the healthcare market and is representative of the organization’s demonstrated customer loyalty, market share position and commitment to business expansion.”
Currently, the Powerware products serve over 2,900 hospitals in the U.S. and are featured in more than 5,900 documented healthcare placements.
Driving the growth of UPS utilization within the healthcare market is the need for increased power protection for high technology medical imaging equipment, the widespread adoption of digital patient record storage, regulatory guidelines such as the Health Information Privacy & Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the increased data storage requirements demanded by Picture Archive Communication Systems (PACS). Eaton’s Powerware UPS solutions are designed to meet the specifications of the healthcare market, allowing healthcare organizations to maintain the integrity and privacy of data associated with electronic medical records, sophisticated medical imaging equipment and laboratory analysis equipment.
“Eaton is pleased to be recognized by Frost & Sullivan for its dedication to the healthcare market,” said Mark A. Ascolese, Eaton vice president, sales and marketing, power quality solutions operations. “This award reinforces our commitment to providing superior power protection by bringing Powerware products to the healthcare industry, instilling confidence in our healthcare customers that their systems are always protected, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Eaton’s Powerware UPS products range as low as 300 VA and as high as 4000 kVA, catering to a wide selection of healthcare applications including IT network and medical imaging equipment.
