Successful participation at CeBIT for Ascent Software

Maltese software house, Ascent Software, recently participated in the CeBIT 2006 fair held in Hannover, Germany. CeBIT offers an international platform for comparing notes on current industry trends, networking, and product presentations. Deutsche Messe AG has organized CeBIT in Hannover each spring since 1986. Over 6,200 exhibitors from around 70 countries and some 480,000 visitors from all over the world attended the last CeBIT in 2005.
“Cebit offers great exposure of our products and services to potential clients particularly in the European Market place. It was a great opportunity to meet up with our existing clients and also demonstrate our portfolio of products and services to the various interested parties who visited our stand. “commented Managing Director Joseph Sultana.
Of particular interest during this event was the special ICT services offered by Ascent. “At Ascent we have a team of graduates in IT, computer science and mathematics. This allows us to offer special skills to clients all over Europe. A number of European companies have approached Ascent and requested help in finding optimal or near-optimal solutions to a number of complex problems in timetabling, scheduling, production control, manufacturing processes, and others.” Mr. Sultana went on to say that Ascent has already deployed such solutions to companies in Ireland and Germany. “We have employed a number of state-of-the-art AI techniques including genetic and memetic algorithms and fuzzy logic control in order to find approximate solutions to many problems which traditionally were considered too hard to solve optimally”. Mr. Sultana said that Ascent was very happy with the quality of University of Malta graduates and said that the skills and expertise acquired by its staff at the University of Malta allowed the company to offer such specialized IT services.
Ascent’s participation at the fair was organized and coordinated by Malta Enterprise.
“We are grateful to Malta Enterprise, for their commitment and initiatives in promoting the local ICT industry overseas,” commented Joseph Sultana.
