Former Maltacom CEO, Stephen Muscat has been appointed editorial consultant to Business Today.
Muscat is a graduate in accountancy from the University of Malta and a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants. He holds a warrant of a certified public accountant.
During his professional career he held top management posts in finance, marketing and administration at Telemalta Corporation and later Maltacom plc. For a brief period he worked in the broadcasting division when it still formed part of Telemalta.
In 2000 he was appointed CEO of Maltacom Group, a post he held up to the end of 2005.
Muscat was also a board director of Maltacom plc, voted in by the private shareholders.
He also served as a member of the board of governors of the World Council of Corporate Governance.
Muscat is also a member of the Institute of Directors of the UK and currently runs his own private practice specialising in management and finance consultancy.
“I am delighted to form part of the team at Business Today, which is in tune with the pulse of the Maltese business community. My experience in management, as an investor and a consumer will come in handy to analyse and comment on the economic and financial issues that are of concern to the business community,” Muscat said.
Commenting on the new appointment, Business Today editor Kurt Sansone said that Muscat’s contribution will further enable the newspaper to live up to its mission statement to be a reference point for the business community.
“Business Today has over the past year consolidated its standing as a reference point for the business community exploring issues that matter, investigating relevant stories and analysing financial and economic data. Muscat’s expertise will certainly come in handy to understand the issues that are of concern,” Sansone said.
