Tony Bunyan, Aidan White, to speak on Freedom of Information

Award winning editor Tony Bunyan and the General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists will be the key speakers at the Journalists’ Committee seminar on Freedom of Information on Monday 17 July.
“A Freedom of Information Act for Malta: Time to Act?” will be the first conference organised by the Journalists’ Committee, to be held on 17 July at the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort at 8pm.
Bunyan is editor of Statewatch, a nonprofit-making voluntary group founded in 1991 that monitors the state and civil liberties in the European Union. Bunyan was selected by a distinguished panel as one of the European Voice newspaper’s fifty most influential people in the European Union (EV50) for 2001, for Statewatch’s work on access to documents in the EU, and again in 2004 for Statewatch’s work on civil liberties and the “war on terrorism”.
Aidan White is the General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists and a consultant to UNICEF, UN Human Rights Commission, UNESCO, ILO, Council of Europe, and the European Commission on governance and mass media policy, journalism and law, and human rights among other issues.
