ECB to recommend Euro entry with established ERMII parity rate

European Central Bank Governor Jean-Claude Trichet will today echo the European Commission’s formal recommendation for Malta’s adoption of the Euro as it’s national currency as from January 1, 2008, and will also recommend keeping the established ERMII central parity rate of Lm0.429300 as the equivalent of EUR1.

Ministry confirms meetings on Malta Shipyards future

Although discussions and meetings have apparently taken place in the past days on the future of Malta Shipyards, effectively confirming the story published by sister paper Malta Today last Sunday, the Ministry for Industry, Investment and IT have insisted that no offer to buy out the yard has been made as yet.

Malta online gaming sector to generate EUR5 billion in turnover for 2007

With an estimated turnover of EUR5 billion this year alone, Malta is set to become the European hub of online gaming, with new applications constantly flowing into the Malta Gaming Authority offices that has seen a three-fold increase in revenue and job creation in just under two and a half years.
