The Malta Union of Bank Employees – M.U.B.E. have registered a trade dispute against Bank of Valletta after failing to reach agreement on an issue relative to a particular clause of the Collective Agreement.
Employees with at least thirty-five years service would benefit from this agreement and would be entitled to receive the salary applicable to the next higher grade. M.U.B.E. is insisting that no eligible member of staff should have the benefit reduced or taken away up to the agreed expiry date of 2007.
Unfortunately, it is more than evident that Bank of Valletta is not keen to honour this agreement. M.U.B.E. said it could not allow any blatant short-changing of a benefit to members of staff with long years of dedicated service.
The Union has continued in its efforts to resolve matters but Bank of Valletta has persisted in what constitutes a breach of the Collective Agreement. This failure to reach a solution has resulted in a trade dispute. |
