Telephony services and internet by Melita at Mater Dei

Patients at the Mater Dei Hospital will be able to enjoy Cable TV, in fact more than 70 channels including the Hospital Welcome Channel, as well as a number of services provided by Melita Cable. A free Cable TV service will also be available in the paediatrics section consisting of around 80 beds in common areas estimated around 218 points throughout the hospital and at 12 points in the Day Care Centre.
Channels and various services will be available at all other beds at varying cost. These include a Basic Package consisting of over 40 channels, a Premium Package of over 70 channels together with internet and e-mail access, unlimited Hello-to-Hello calls, 50 radio stations and simple electronic games such as Solitaire.
Patients can also entertain themselves with a bundled number of pay-on-demand channels in addition to the Premium Package, as well as other electronic video games such as ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’.
Apart from the Hello-to-Hello telephone calls, which are also free, to anyone buying one of the packages, patients can call local or international fixed or mobile lines at competitive rates in line with standard Hello pricing.
The terminals, which Melita Cable will be installing have been specifically developed for use in hospitals and designed for easy use by people of all ages. They have anti-bacterial properties and carry instruction on how to use the various functions with clear on-screen buttons, which provide visual feedback to the user.
Melita Cable personnel will be available on-site to assist patients in the use of the terminals and to ensure their cleanliness at all times. In line with the company’s policy regarding customer support, Melita Cable will also have personnel available who can be contacted by phone free of charge to provide over-the-phone assistance to patients.
In a statement to the press, Ing. Philip Micallef, CEO of Melita Cable said that being chosen to provide such an important service to the new Mater Dei Hospital is a major achievement for the company, besides the fact that Melita Cable will be making patients’ stay in hospital a more pleasant and comfortable experience by providing entertainment, internet access and telephony to patients.
