State-of-the-art home entertainment system unveiled at Mater Dei Hospital

Melita Cable plc recently unveiled a new state-of-the-art home entertainment and telecommunications systems to all in-patients at the Mater Dei hospital.
The new system which is being implemented across all 825 beds at the Mater Dei hospital will enable all in-patients to access Digital TV and radio services, Cable Internet and VoIP telephony provided over the Hello infrastructure.
In-patients can select from one of three TV packages, namely Melita Active, Melita Connect or Melita World and pay a daily charge of €4, €7 and €8 respectively.
The TV packages include up to 100 digital TV channels including Melita Sports channels for access to live sports from the top leagues in Europe. All three packages are inclusive of a 2Mbps Internet connection, Hello telephony services and 60 radio channels.
Like all other Hello users, in-patients will benefit from free Hello-to-Hello calls and the lowest local per minute call charges to other fixed-line networks. Family and friends visiting patients can procure a card from the various vending machines at the hospital to provide access to the system.
All terminals in the hospital are equipped with features enabling viewers to pause, rewind and replay their favourite programmes at will. This feature known in the industry as ‘retroview’ is the first of its kind in Malta.
The entertainment services can also be accessed in the common areas and in children wards for free. Melita will be providing over 200 terminals in hospital common areas and up to 70 terminals in children wards for free. Moreover, Melita will provide children with adapters enabling them to utilize their game consoles over the TV-bedside unit.
