Government to receive a dividend from Malta International Airport plc

Following the announcement of results of Malta International Airport plc, on the eve of the elections, the Government is expected to receive a net dividend of around €785,000 from its 20% shareholding.
The Annual General Meeting of MIA is scheduled to be held on 24 April and the dividend paid by not later than 26 May 2008.
The dividend income from MIA, kicks of the process of dividends from public limited companies which the Government estimate to receive during 2008. The exchequer had budgeted for €8.1 million from dividends. At present, the Government still owns 20% in MIA plc and 25% in BOV plc. The latter is expected to announce its interim results and possibly propose an interim dividend later on this month.
At the Annual General Meeting of MIA plc the Government has a right to appoint one person as a member of the Board of Directors.
