Air Malta chairman denies talks with Lufthansa over cessation of assets

Charlot Zahra
Air Malta Chairman Lawrence Zammit has denied claims of discussions with German Airline Lufthansa over the partial or total cessation of Air Malta or some its subsidiaries.
Asked by Business Today whether there had been any discussions between the two airlines about the matter, Air Malta Chairman Lawrence Zammit said: “This is not the case. Absolutely not.
“Nobody has been authorised on behalf of Air Malta to discuss on these things. It there is somebody who is doing this, then he is doing it without the authorisation of Air Malta,” he insisted.
Pressed further about the matter, Zammit told Business Today: “Now I do not know whether there was somebody who went to discuss with Lufthansa Cargo.
“I am not the guardian angel of each and every employee of Air Malta, but I have not authorised anybody to speak on behalf of Air Malta,” he insisted.
