Industrial producer price indices: April 2022

In April 2022 industrial producer price index registered an increase of 5.7% when compared to the previous year

During April 2022, the industrial producer price index registered an increase of5.75 per cent when compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.

When compared to April 2021, the industrial producer price index increased by 5.75 per cent. Price increases were registered in all the main industrial groupings except energy. The highest increase was registered in the intermediate goods (9.08 per cent) followed by consumer goods (5.07 per cent) and capital goods (3.53 per cent).

Industrial producer prices for the domestic market increased by 9.58 per cent. Price rises were recorded in the intermediate goods (22.34 per cent), capital goods (19.07 per cent) and consumer goods (9.17 per cent).

Non-domestic prices increased by 3.30 per cent. Prices within the non-euro area rose by 4.34 per cent while those within the euro area increased by 1.38 per cent.

Monthly comparison

During April 2022, the industrial producer price index decreased by 0.99 per cent when compared to March 2022. Intermediate goods dropped by 3.07 per cent. On the other hand, increases of 0.98 per cent and 0.31 per cent were registered in the consumer goods and capital goods respectively.

There were no price changes in the energy sector.

Domestic market prices increased by 0.80 per cent due to rises in consumer goods (1.77 per cent) and in intermediate goods (0.97 per cent).

Non-domestic prices decreased by 2.17 per cent. Non-euro area prices dropped by 2.81 per cent while euro area prices dropped by 0.92 per cent.
