ATTO, the Association of Tractor and Trailer Operators (ATTO) has unveiled its newly branded logo, signalling a commitment to a more active and forward-looking stance over the coming months, to address the looming challenges that the sector continues to face namely rising EU regulations, driver shortages, inadequate infrastructure, and disproportionate costs impacting island economies.

The new logo was unveiled during a recent event attended by all ATTO’s members during which the Association also announced its forthcoming first international transport and logistics conference on February 18 at Xara Lodge in Rabat.

Appropriately themed “Turning Challenges into Opportunities”, this will be the first conference organized by ATTO, bringing together local industry stakeholders to discuss the industry’s most pressing challenges.

Commenting on the event, Joseph Bugeja who was appointed ATTO Chairman a year ago, emphasised the vital role of the sector in Malta’s economy and its crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential goods to the islands.

"This sector is a vital pillar of Malta’s economic activity, with our members playing a key role in facilitating ongoing import and export operations, essential to the majority of Maltese businesses. However, these operators are still encountering significant challenges that must be addressed through dialogue with the right stakeholders, including government authorities and other industry partners," said Mr Bugeja.

Speakers at the conference will include Hon. Chris Bonett, Malta’s Minister for Transport, Marc Billiet, Associate Director of EU Goods Transport at the International Road Transport Union (IRU), and Dan Wolff, the Irish Road Haulage Association’s EU Representative in Brussels.

"The past year has been incredibly intensive. We raised awareness on the importance of our sector to Malta’s economy and established a more structured and open dialogue with local and EU political bodies. Our work at the EU level has been further strengthened through our strong ties with IRU, the world’s largest transport union, and the Island Nations Advocacy Group," added Mr Bugeja.

The ATTO International Conference will take place from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Xara Lodge and is open to all individuals involved in the transport and logistics sector in Malta.
