GO extends paid pregnancy loss leave to non-carrying partners
GO strengthens its commitment to employee wellbeing by extending fully paid Pregnancy Loss Leave to non-carrying partners

GO has announced a significant expansion of its Pregnancy Loss Leave policy, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing and workplace inclusivity. With immediate effect, the company’s fully paid leave entitlement will now also apply to employees who are non-carrying partners of individuals who experience a pregnancy loss.
This development comes as the Maltese government launches a national consultation on miscarriage leave. GO, which was one of the first companies in Malta to introduce such a policy, continues to lead by example in shaping a more compassionate and equitable work environment.
Originally introduced in April 2023, GO’s Pregnancy Loss Leave policy granted up to four weeks of fully paid leave to employees who physically experienced miscarriage. The latest expansion of the policy ensures that all GO employees—regardless of whether they are the carrying or non-carrying partner—now receive the same level of support during such a deeply personal and difficult time.
Chief People & Finance Officer Reuben Attard emphasised the importance of inclusive support. “We recognise that pregnancy loss affects both partners deeply,” he said. “Extending this policy to non-carrying partners reflects our belief that grief, healing, and support should never be limited by gender or role in the pregnancy. It’s about meeting people where they are and giving them the time and space they need to process such a difficult experience.”
Under the updated policy, any GO employee whose partner experiences a pregnancy loss is now entitled to up to four weeks of fully paid leave—aligning with the support already available to carrying partners within the organisation. The initiative aims to alleviate the emotional and logistical pressures that often follow pregnancy loss, allowing employees the time to heal without work-related stress.
“This is more than a policy update. It is a reflection of our values. We believe that meaningful support builds resilience, trust, and connection in the workplace,” Attard added.
GO’s expanded Pregnancy Loss Leave policy takes effect immediately and forms part of the company’s broader strategy to foster a workplace culture rooted in empathy, equity, and care.
