The Mediterranean Sea is undoubtedly one of the biggest factors which draw people to Malta, with both tourists and locals enjoying spending time at sea.

Boat trips and water activities around the island are very popular, but it can be difficult to choose which trip or activity offers the best value and experience.

One online service - GetMyBoat - however, brings together hundreds of boat renting and trip services, making it much easier to choose which one to opt for.

GetMyBoat, which bills itself as the “Airbnb of boats”, is a platform where boat businesses can easy reach customers. Launched in San Francisco in 2013, it is the world’s largest marketplace for boat rentals and water activities in the world, with 130,000 listings in 184… and it’s also available in Malta.

The service can be accessed online through getmyboat.com or through the GetMyBoat apps for iOS and Android, and currently contains over 300 boat rental and water experience listings for Malta.

The listings range from renting of small boats at low prices or renting of larger yachts, to water skiing trips, windsurfing tours, jet ski renting, luzzu chartering, scuba diving courses, snorkeling, kayaking, and more.

All listings include the price per person, per hour or per day, depending on the type of service, and each boat specifies how many persons can be hosted on it as well as other information such as the safety gear and facilities available.

The location of the service is shown on a map, and bookings can be made directly through the GetMyBoat platform.

Services can be organised by trip types, price and group size.

Apart from serving customers, the platform also makes it easy for businesses to add their listings.

The platform’s mission, in fact, is to open up the boating world for both renters and owners.

Adding a listing is as simple as signing up and supplying the required information.

With an easy-to-use interface, the platform promises to provide a hassle-free experience, and looks set to transform the way boat trips and water experiences are booked in Malta, while at the same time making such services more accessible to people who might otherwise not have thought of engaging in a sea-related activity.
