The Malta Institute of Management (MIM) has appointed its first female Director General.

A sociologist by profession, Ms Bridget Borg brings to the Institute a wealth of experience in management within the hospitality industry and in recruitment.

She holds a Master of Science in Sociology: Contemporary Social Problems from Utrecht University in the Netherlands, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sociology and a Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management.

In 2016, Ms Borg was awarded a mention on the Dean’s list of the Faculty of Arts, for her outstanding academic achievement. She lectures Sociology of Law at the University of Malta and co-founded the Malta Sociological Association and is part of the executive committee.

Throughout the years she studied in five different universities in Malta, the UK, Ireland and in the Netherlands, gaining first hand experience on various forms of teaching styles, course delivery, methods of assessment and course development.

Ms Borg has also worked within the office of the Ombudsman in Amsterdam and within the Ministry of European Affairs and Equality.

Founded in 1964, the Malta Institute of Management is a non-political, non-negotiating and non-profit making professional body for managers and people aspiring to work in management. MIM has gained its reputation over the last 56 years by consistently offering courses, educational programmes, training, events, networking, assistance and guidance to members and the business community in Malta and Gozo.

The Institute strives to maintain its top standard delivery of courses, while working on providing pioneering courses mirroring market needs, such as delving into new sectors within the business development industry.

Last October, MIM launched the Malta Academy for Taxation Studies, an Academy with its own portfolio of academic courses and activities related to the field of taxation.

MIM looks forward to continuing enhancing synergies between the Institute and the public sector, as well as with both local and foreign companies in order to enhance learning whilst creating links beneficial to MIM members.
