Your views on an EU policy for sustainable tourism

In view of its plans to present proposals by September 2007 that will mark the way to making tourism both sustainable and competitive, the European Commission has initiated a consultation process for stakeholders. Views are therefore being solicited on the renewal of an EU tourism policy that should lead to stronger tourism across the bloc.
This is not a first for the European Commission. Two years ago, the Tourism Sustainability Group which is made up of various industry representatives and other experts, started working. In February of this year, it published a report entitled ‘Action for More Sustainable European Tourism’. It lists 8 challenges and provides ideas for the implementation of various actions that may be taken.
Views are being accepted until the 14th of June. More information can be obtained from http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/services/tourism/sustainability_public_consultation.htm or from Forum Malta fl-Ewropa on [email protected] or telephone 2590 9101.
